PowerType I plugs · 230V / 50Hz
NZ uses the angled two- or three-pin Type I plug (same as Australia). Visitors from the UK, EU and US will need an adapter. US travellers: check your devices handle 230V — most phone and laptop chargers do, but hair tools often don’t.

SunThe UV is no joke
New Zealand’s UV index is extremely high — thin ozone and clear air mean you can burn in as little as 15 minutes, even in autumn. SPF 50+ is essential, plus a hat and sunnies. Slip, slop, slap & wrap!

WeatherAuckland in April: autumn
Expect mild days around 18–23°C, cooler evenings (~12–15°C) and the occasional rain shower. The golden light is gorgeous. Layers are your best friend — and pack a light rain jacket just in case.

MoneyNZD & no tipping
The currency is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD). Credit cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere (some add a small surcharge). Tipping isn’t customary — wages include service — though it’s appreciated for exceptional service.
